Japan’s rainy season (tsuyu) usually runs mid-June into early July as the Baiu front moves north—humid, showery, and great for hydrangea festivals.
How to cope
- Breathable layers, compact umbrella, quick-dry shoes
- Indoor backups: museums, malls, covered shopping streets
- Hydrangea temple walks on lighter rain days
Southern regions enter tsuyu first; check that year’s meteorological outlook before packing only summer linen.
