Read up on Thailand's entry rules before you travel. Two years into the pandemic, everyone is more than ready for a change of scenery, and as vaccination rates climb, some countries are starting to reopen with conditions attached. Thailand eased its entry rules as of 1 May. Today we round up everything currently required to enter Thailand, in the hope it helps anyone planning a trip. Pack your bags, grab a no-throttle Thailand data SIM, and you are ready to go!

Entry rules during the pandemic

  1. From 1 November, apply for a Thailand Pass at https://tp.consular.go.th/. Review takes roughly 3 to 5 days, and you will need to present it at immigration; an entry certificate is still required beforehand.

  2. Apply for the Thailand Pass at least 7 days before departure.

  3. Travellers who are not fully vaccinated and cannot provide a negative RT-PCR result taken within 72 hours before departure must book or rebook an Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) hotel, including a PCR test and airport transfer.
  4. If a traveller tests positive on arrival, mild cases require at least 10 days of hotel quarantine, and severe cases require hospital isolation and treatment.
  5. Once quarantine ends and a test returns negative, recovered patients receive a hospital-issued certificate of recovery.

For travellers fully vaccinated with a Thailand-recognised vaccine

  1. Apply for a Thailand Pass online at: https://tp.consular.go.th/
  2. You will receive a Thailand Pass QR code.
  3. Upload your passport, visa, and proof of COVID-19 insurance with at least USD 10,000 of cover.
  4. Attach proof of vaccination (using a vaccine approved by the WHO or Thailand's Ministry of Public Health) as both a physical copy and a digital file (combined into a single JPG or JPEG file, not PDF, and no larger than 5MB).
  5. On arrival in Thailand you will only need an ATK rapid test; a negative result lets you travel freely anywhere in the country.
Vaccines recognised by the Thai government include AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Sputnik V, Sinopharm, Sinovac, and Taiwan's own Medigen
